Curd Nerds Unite!

Oh my god(dess), I’m SO EXCITED!

I just signed up to be a Curd Nerd at this: Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest

Their website says “Come to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina (it’s in Asheville) on April 26th, 2015. Join us on the grounds of Highland Brewery (a SOLAR POWERED BREWERY) for a celebration of Southern Cheese. Explore the process from the field and farm to the dinner plate. Learn about the past, present, and future of this ancient craft.”

Just what I needed, something more to fuel my FIRE to get dairy sheep. Because sheep cheese is the MOST DELICIOUS cheese, plus of course, sheep are awesome. I really want these: East Friesian Sheep, even though I know this is TOTALLY  a project for after we buy our own land. You can get by with rabbits and a pig or two in temporary fencing, when your landlord has only technically agreed to chickens, but somehow sheep would be over the line.

Clearly NOT my sheep, but aren’t they BEAUTIFUL? Plus, Asheville in the springtime is gorgeous. And I LOVE cheese. When I first moved to NC, I worked part time for a couple of years at this great little independent cheese shop, the sorely missed Reliable Cheese (the shop is closed, but its Yelp reviews live on).

Whoop!

Until next time,

(The actual volunteer task I signed up for is to be a Curd Nerd. Isn’t that FABULOUS??)
